Tim Cindric Weighs In
Tim Cindric, in his column for Racer Magazine, delved back into the incidents of Edmonton. Actually, his description of the events and explanation for being upset make a lot of sense.
MILLER: Cotman to write 2012 IndyCar engine/chassis rules
Robin Miller at SPEED.com reports that IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard has hired Tony Cotman to write the rules, dictate policy and ride herd on the price of components like he did as the straw boss at Champ Car.
Cotman, who served as chief steward and competition director at Champ Car from 2005-2008 before taking a job with IndyCar in 2008, was the mid-wife of the 2007 Panoz DP01 chassis.
A Shameless Plug
One of my favorite blog posts from my IndyCar blog. Please, leave feedback or any opinions; I welcome them!
I want to thank Randy Bernard for taking the time to meet with me in Indianapolis today. Once again, I regret what occurred following the IZOD IndyCar Series race in Edmonton and I apologize for my behavior as I let my emotions get the better of me. Although my disappointment with being black-flagged while leading the race with just a few laps to go will probably always remain with me, I understand and accept the league's decision to penalize me for my reaction. I am ready to move forward and I'm hoping to add to Team Penske's success at Mid-Ohio this weekend.
Helio Castroneves
IZOD IndyCar Series officials have fined driver Helio Castroneves $60,000 and placed him on probation for the remainder of the season for his actions during the July 25 race at Edmonton City Centre Airport.
IndyCar PR
Dave Burns will replace Vince Welch as lap-by-lap announcer for ESPN's telecast of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night. Vince was involved in a traffic accident Thursday night in Indiana with his son and a family friend in the car. All were treated and released but Vince is going to stick close to home this weekend.

"Design Your Own Future IndyCar"
I wish my graphic design skills were good enough for this. Might still give it a shot.
Panther Racing wins the Internet
This morning, Panther Racing issued a disappointed press release stating that they had failed to sign LeBron James to drive an IZOD IndyCar Series entry alongside Dan Wheldon. It is a tossup whether the PR itself or the fact that it got picked up and distributed to outlets like SPEED.com - apparently without the realization of its tongue-in-cheek nature - is more full of win.
Wheldon - and his shoe collection - was apparently unavailable for comment.
