Bob Pockrass of Scene Daily, NASCAR's official periodical, has cited the Associated Press in reporting that Danica Patrick will compete full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s JR Motorsports team and a limited Sprint Cup Series schedule with Tony Stewart's Stewart-Haas Racing team in 2012. The report comes on the heels of an earlier ESPN report that was roundly dismissed by Patrick's representatives. There was no indication of whether the alleged deal includes a one-off Indy 500 start for Patrick.

HVM Racing's Simona de Silvestro walked away from a terrifying crash in practice for the 95th running of the Indianapolis 500. An equipment failure caused the car to get airborne in turn 3, then get airborne again in turn 4, turning upside down and tearing the catchfence before coming to rest upside down and on fire. De Silvestro was helped from the car by Holmatro Safety Team workers and walked to an ambulance.
Lotus has revealed that it has forged an association with Engine Developments, Ltd. – better known as Judd – to develop its new V6 turbo engine, which will compete next year in the IZOD IndyCar Series.
